NINR's 40th Anniversary Scientific Symposium - Advancing Nursing Science to Improve Health for All: NINR’s Impact

Dr. Kamila A. Alexander, PhD, MPH, RN (Johns Hopkins School of Nursing), will present at the NINR 40th Anniversary Scientific Symposium – “Advancing Nursing Science to Improve Health for All: NINR’s Impact” on September 17, 2025 in Bethesda, MD. (National Institute of Nursing Research)

Drawing on her research on HIV, intimate partner violence, sexual and reproductive health, and health equity, Dr. Alexander’s poster (accepted as part of the NINR poster session) will highlight nurse-led innovations to reduce HIV prevention and care barriers — particularly among populations experiencing trauma and violence. She will share findings from her work with the Mid-Atlantic Center for AIDS Research Consortium Nursing Initiative, where she and colleagues used creative methods (e.g., participatory design, LEGO Serious Play) to identify priorities, research gaps, and community-responsive models of care. (Note: exact poster title to be confirmed.)

Her presentation contributes to the symposium’s focus: showcasing breakthroughs in disease prevention and health promotion, innovative systems and models of care, and work that addresses structural inequities in population health. (National Institute of Nursing Research)
